Alexis Ioannou is a dramatherapist and somatic psycho-traumatherapist. He studied Biology in the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, World Performance in the University of Essex in the UK, and completed his MA studies in dramatherapy at the University of Roehampton, UK. He also trained in Ancestral Healing from the Ancestral Medicine organisation in the US, and is a registered traumatherapist with the NARM approach. He worked for 5 years in UK’s NHS (National Health System) with people with intellectual disabilities and in an acute psychiatric unit, in palliative care units, schools and in the Refugee Council.
After his return to Greece at 2022 he focused primarily on his private work with adults, and since 2024 he teaches on the MA Dramatherapy programme at Mediterranean College in collaboration with the University of Derby. His practice sits at the crossroads of dramatherapy, relational values and ecopsychology, somatic traumatherapy, and mindfulness/contemplative practice and has a special interst on cultural and intergenerational dimensions of trauma.
